Part-Time Architectural Technician / Architect

KW Architectural is currently looking for an experienced Architectural Technician or Architect to join the practice on a part-time basis, typically 2 to 3 days per week. This is a flexible role that is primarily home-based, with occasional site visits and office collaboration.

You will play an important role in the preparation of planning drawings, technical packages and construction information across a range of live projects.

The Role

You will be involved in the delivery of architectural work across different project stages, helping to develop clear, accurate and coordinated drawing packages.

The role includes preparing architectural planning and technical drawings, producing detailed working and construction information, and ensuring documentation aligns with current regulations and project requirements.

You will also work alongside consultants and the wider team to support the smooth progress of projects from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and technical drawing work:

    Prepare architectural drawings for planning, building regulations and technical design stages.

  • Construction information:

    Produce accurate working drawings and detailed construction packages for live residential and commercial projects.

  • Coordination and compliance:

    Help ensure all documentation is coordinated, well presented and aligned with current regulations, consultant input and client requirements.

  • Project support:

    Contribute across project stages, supporting the development of practical and buildable design solutions.

  • Team collaboration:

    Work effectively with external consultants and the wider practice, while also being comfortable managing tasks independently in a remote working environment.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Technical experience:

    Strong experience in architectural technology and technical design.

  • AutoCAD:

    A good working knowledge of AutoCAD and confidence producing professional drawing packages.

  • Construction drawings:

    Experience preparing technical and construction drawings to a high standard.

  • Building regulations knowledge:

    A sound understanding of current building regulations and technical compliance requirements.

  • Attention to detail:

    A careful, organised and methodical approach to work, with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Independent working:

    The ability to manage workload effectively, work independently, and communicate clearly within a flexible working setup.

  • Relevant qualification:

    A qualification in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a related discipline.

Desirable Experience

Experience in Revit would be useful, although it is not essential.

3D visualisation skills, project management experience, knowledge of JCT contracts, or previous experience working within a small practice would also be an advantage.

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be dependent on experience.

The role includes a generous holiday allowance based on agreed working days, flexibility around children where needed, and a 10% company pension contribution.

Working Pattern

This is a part-time role for 2 to 3 days per week.

The position is primarily remote, with occasional site visits and office collaboration, usually around 1 to 2 times per month.
