Lainswood House
Chearsley, Buckinghamshire
Lainswood House was originally the garden of the adjacent neighbour, who decided to procure planning permission for a new, contemporary detached dwelling. Located in the heart of the Chearsley village conservation area Buckinghamshire, its contemporary rendered and charred timber cladding to the front and rear façades compliment the adjacent wychert property. The sloping nature of the garden provided an opportunity to have a split level ground floor, a feature enjoyed by the occupants.
New contemporary split-level dwelling, Buckinghamshire
As well as completing the architectural works for this new home, KW Architectural also directly managed its construction, including liasing and coordinating sub-contractors, suppliers, and day to day running of the site. Planning permission was later procurred for a detached garage, finished in complimenting materials.
This 3.5 bed detached dwelling has sustainability at its centre. Its thermal credentials exceed building regulations requirements by a minimum of 20% across the board, bolstered by an ASHP, energy efficient underfloor heating, a pitched warm roof system, solar reflective glass and a green sedum roof.
Split over 3 floors, the ground floor is home to an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Due to the split floor levels, each area maintains its own identity. An enhanced floor to ceiling height, as well as a bespoke designed rooflight, allows this space to feel inviting and perfect for hosting. The 2.4m high bi-fold doors allows light to flood this area every morning. The ground floor is complete with a utility room, downstairs WC and bespoke in-built shoes and coats storage
The first and second floors are home to three double bedrooms, study, family bathroom, ensuite, plant room, and linen cupboard. The master and second bedroom enjoy Southerly views of the Chiltern hills. Featuring clever storage throughout this property was important to maximise the use of space, with recessed shelving, fitted wardrobes, eaves storage and bathroom cupboards carefully carved into the building shell.
