Banwell Close

Carterton

Located in the suburbs of Carterton, this site was previously a dilapidated bungalow in need of demolition. It is now home to five new traditional three bedroom dwellings, varying in size to appeal to different opportunistic buyers.

Five New Traditional Dwellings with Modern Features, Oxfordshire

KW Architectural undertook a feasibility assessment for Mansbridge and Murray Developments to ascertain the sites future value and the quantity of dwellings which would be accepted by West Oxfordshire District Council. Working with a team of professionals (including an ecologist, lighting designer and SAP assessors), planning permission was secured for five new traditional 3 bedroom dwellings, varying in sizes and specifications.

The semi-detached properties facing Milestone Road have carefully considered roof heights to compliment the transition from the adjacent two storey house to a bungalow on the West side of the development. The Local Authority praised the site for exceeding their requirements for garden and amenity space, whilst also providing a realistic amount of internal storage (something often overlooked).

The houses exceed the minimum building regulations thermal requirements, and are finished to an above-expected standard for houses in the local area. The bedrooms are designed to realistic standards, with each room having space for a wardrobe, bedside table and study space.

The external hard-scaping is a sustainable urban drainage system, reducing and mitigating any possible effects of flash flooding. Communal green spaces ensure the residents can enjoy a pleasant outlook, whilst also offering foraging opportunities for local wildlife. Hedgehog Highways were installed between gardens to allow un-restricted access to the gardens for these much-loved creatures.
